We're leading in Dementia Support in North Lincs
From Monday 21 May, we will be supporting Dementia Action Week, with an awareness campaign and training sessions for our staff members.
All of our employees are encouraged to attend awareness sessions to become Dementia Friends, so they can learn more about living with a diagnosis, and how to best support those affected.
Hundreds of staff members have already attended one of the awareness sessions, including teams from Hales & Coultas and Ashbridge Roofing Solutions. Several sessions have also been delivered to tenants, with more to be planned in the future.
We are also a member of the North Lincolnshire Dementia Action Alliance and have recently announced plans to build the first specialist housing scheme in North Lincolnshire specifically for people living with dementia so that they can continue to independently for as long as possible. Helen Wright, Manager of Support Services here at Ongo and Chair of the North Lincolnshire Dementia Action Alliance said: “At Ongo we really are leaders in supporting people living with a dementia diagnosis, and I am very proud of the work we do. Not only do we take part in national campaigns, but we make decisions that impact the lives of local people, including the new purpose built homes we are planning to build.
“I have been Chair and representative for Ongo of the North Lincolnshire Dementia Action Alliance since 2014, and since then we’ve also done some amazing work with the 31 organisations signed up. Going forward we’re planning Dementia Friends sessions for our newest members, including Humberside Airport and Scunthorpe United FC.
“We’d love to see as many organisations as possible signing up to making a difference. If you’d like to join us, get in touch with me on 01724 279900.”
