Ongo Carnival attracts thousands

Thousands of people attended the Carnival on Wednesday 8 August.

The carnival,  which is free and open to everyone, is our biggest annual event. It took place at Manor Park, Burringham Road.

This year’s activities included horse grooming, bouncy castles, circus acts, face painting, tin can alley, a miniature petting zoo and other sporting fun.

There were performances from local acts Field of Dreams dog display, Scunthorpe & District Pipe Band, Tsunami Allstars Cheerleading, Westcliff Twirlers, Messingham Martial Arts and more.

Humberside Fire and Rescue, Samaritans, Humberside Police, North Lincolnshire Council, Age UK,  North Lindsey College, health services, Westcliff Community Works and many of our own staff members, all manned stands to chat to people, share information and explain services that can be offered.

Steve Hepworth, CEO here at Ongo, said: “It’s all down to the hard work of our team and the community for coming out each year to get involved, so I’d like to say a huge thank you to them.

“Ongo Carnival is one of my favourite days of the year, it’s great to see so many happy faces and it brings our Ongo promise, to put back into local communities alive.  I’m already looking forward to next year’s and the planning is starting now to make it even bigger and better.”

A number of people took to social media to share their photos and comments from the day. Stacey Baillie commented: “Great day at the Carnival. Well done to Ongo and all involved. Another great year.”

Another comment on Twitter from David Johnsen read: “Our first @OngoUK Carnival, we will be back next year! Loved it!! By far the best “summer gala” We’ve been to.”
