ASB Awareness Week - Making our communities safer

From 30 June – 6 July, Ongo tenants are invited to join us for a series of activities as we celebrate ASB Awareness Week.

As part of the week, we’ll be educating tenants and customers on what represents anti-social behaviour (ASB), as well as empowering them to report it, if they are unable to address the issue themselves. We’ll also be sharing examples of how we’ve built strong partnerships with local policing and community safety teams to tackle ASB.

Drop-in sessions – Turning conversation into community action

Ongo tenants and customers are invited to ask questions and share concerns at two drop-in sessions which will be held at our community centres; The Arc, Scunthorpe, and The Viking Centre, Barton with Ongo staff and local partners.

Details of drop-in sessions:

• The Viking Centre, Barton – 1 July from 11am to 1:30pm
• The Arc, Scunthorpe – 3July from 11am to 2pm

We’ll also be speaking with tenants at Chatterton Crescent, Scunthorpe, as part of our Neighbourhood Engagement events.

Short videos will also be shared across our Facebook page during the week featuring Ongo staff discussing a range of topics.

These include:

• Gathering evidence via CCTV including Ring doorbells – the dos and don’ts
• Exploring common ASB themes: When does noise become noise nuisance
• Working with local policing and community safety teams to make our communities safer.

We received over 1,030 reports of anti-social behaviour last year from customers across our neighbourhoods, and we managed over 3,500 cases overall. 73% of those reports were successfully closed as resolved, through our work in listening to concerns and supporting people to sustain their tenancies.

We’ve also listened to what our customers have had to tell us about the service they would like to see from us moving forward, and we are working towards a new Neighbourhoods model as a result. Through this model, tenants will see a stronger presence from us in their neighbourhoods and communities. More information about these changes can be found on the Ongo website, here.

“We’re already doing lots of good work, but this relies on our tenants and customers reporting the right things to us to help us take action. These activities aim to empower local people to do just that.
