Grounds maintenance

Our grounds maintenance service covers all Ongo owned land. Here you can find more information about the schedule of these works.

Grounds maintenance schedule

There is work ongoing throughout the cutting season, running from February/March (weather permitting) to October/November. We also maintain areas during the winter period too, from November to February. The types of work for each season are listed below.

February/March – October/November

  • Amenity/Open Space Grass Cuts – cut and fly* (Every 11 working days)
  • Litter Picking – pick every visit (prior to grass cut)
  • Hard Standing Herbicide Spraying – one application
  • Hedges/Shrubs – sided only (Jun – Aug)

*Please note, all areas except retirement and specialist schemes will receive a cut and fly service. Retirement and specialist schemes pay for a cut and collect service.

It is important to note that during the period between March and August all work to hedges and shrubs will be carried out to cause minimum disturbance to nesting birds and wildlife in compliance with the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and Birds Nesting legislation.

November – February

  • One site visit per month – November to March
  • Hedges/Shrubs – hard prune, once
  • Leaf clearance – Nov/Jan – two collections

Please note: No hedge maintenance will be completed if there are visible signs of birds nesting as per the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981

Is it good weather for grounds maintenance today?

We will make every effort to maintain the grounds on our estates, but sometimes the weather gets in the way.
