We're helping to tackle period poverty

We have teamed up with Asda to fight period poverty, offering essential sanitary products free of charge to local people.

Across the UK, thousands of people live without access to sanitary products, putting their health at risk and creating unnecessary embarrassment. This is only set to increase, with the Government estimating that up to 14.5 million people were living in poverty, before the pandemic. 

The Viking Centre in Barton-upon-Humber, The Arc in Westcliff, Scunthorpe and Ongo Recruitment office on Cole Street, Scunthorpe are all part of the initiative, encouraging anyone in need to visit them and ask for sanitary products, or simply ask for a present from LEO.

Kim Slator, Ongo Talk Coordinator said: “Still in 2022, it’s a devastating fact that period poverty is a huge problem, and this is something we feel passionately about helping towards.

“We’re a friendly and very discrete bunch, so we’re urging anyone in need to please use this service. We are here for you, your children, or for people you support.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Asda for donating the sanitary products, it’s such a huge help to local people and this wouldn’t be possible without them.”
