Thanking our volunteers

National Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make within their communities, across the UK.

This year we are celebrating by saying thank you, highlighting the amazing work our volunteers do and offering the opportunity for others to get involved.

Over the last 12 months our team has worked with over 60 volunteers. All of which have gone through accredited training and have a dedicated coach to help get them into work.

One of those volunteers is Dale Traynor, who started his journey with the team in 2021.

He was unsure of what he wanted to do after being out of work for a while, so worked with them to build confidence and gain experience.

He attended a variety of courses, enrolled on a business administration qualification and has completed several work placements to help gain the skills needed to move forward.

When asked about volunteering, Dale said: “I can’t remember the first time I came into Ongo, but what I do know is that I immediately felt welcomed.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to the team for the huge support they have given me throughout the years, and still do to this day.

“They have helped me find myself again, made me think about my life choices and put me on that path of achievement and success.

“I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for them.”

Dale has now successfully been appointed within the Customer Experience team here at Ongo, and has aspirations of progressing within the sector.

Maryanne Fitzgerald, Engagement and Enterprise Manager here at Ongo said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to all of our fantastic volunteers who work so hard each and every day.

“At Ongo we fully believe in the benefits of volunteering and how much it can develop a person and help them to progress. If it’s something you’re interested in, please get in touch with our team, we’d love to help.”
