Tea and Talk

We are getting behind the national Tea and Talk campaign, with two events in Scunthorpe and Barton.

Tea and Talk, which is in its tenth year, was set up by the Mental Health Foundation to simply get together and talk. It sounds straightforward, but for many, talking can be difficult, especially when suffering with mental health issues.

The first event will be held on Wednesday 9 October between 10-11am at the Viking Centre, Barton. Everyone is invited to go along, chat to people in their community and enjoy some cakes and refreshments.

The second event will be hosted at our office on Cole Street, Scunthorpe on Thursday 10 October, between 11am-2pm. The team will be sharing information and signing people up to our Ongo Talk project, which offers free mental health support, training and counselling.

Both events are open to everyone and are completely free of charge.

Maryanne Fitzgerald, Next Level Manager, commented: “Research has proved that talking is good for your mental health, so we think Tea and Talk is a fantastic idea.

“We don’t just want to focus on mental health for one day though, we want to promote the work we do to support people every day. Our Ongo Talk project offers counselling, life coaching and training. We’d love to see as many of you at both of our events, so come along and get involved.”
