Steve shares Ongo’s story at PlaceShapers Annual Conference 2024

We’re proud to have been a part of the Laying It On The Table Campaign. As part of this year’s PlaceShapers Annual Conference, Steve Hepworth our Chief Exec, was invited to be a guest speaker on a session, titled “How can we support healthy, connected and resilient communities?”.

The two-day, virtual event took place on 19 and 20 November and provided a unique opportunity for housing sector professionals to come together, learn from each other and discuss the future.

Set against the backdrop of a new government committed to social housing and devolution, it focussed on three critical areas:

  • How can we provide activities and space for residents to be part of the community?
  • How can we work with the voluntary sector and health bodies to improve access to health services and address health inequalities?
  • How can we support residents to take the lead in building community resilience?

The “How can we support healthy, connected and resilient communities?” session featured a distinguished panel including Mark Pearson, Managing Director of 54 North, Steve Southwell, Chair of Residents Voice at Worthing Homes and was chaired by Jo Savage, CEO of Greatwell Homes.

Steve shared insights from Ongo initiatives that have successfully engaged residents and transformed community spaces. His experience and leadership in fostering these types of projects provided valuable perspectives on building stronger, healthier communities.
