Pride month at Ongo
Customers and colleagues are coming together to celebrate national Pride month this June.
Pride month aims to promote acceptance and equality, whilst celebrating the work of LGBTQ+ people, education in LGBTQ+ history and raising awareness of issues. It also acts as a reminder of how damaging homophobia was and still can be.
As part of the month our Head Office will be lit in rainbow colours, with flags proudly flying. We will be sharing stories, first-hand accounts, educational material and getting involved on social media.
The Arc in Westcliff, Scunthorpe and Viking Resource Centre in Barton upon Humber will be running a ‘free rainbow cupcake Thursday’ with any hot drink promotion throughout the month and encouraging people to socialise.
Aaron Simpson-King, Customer Experience Team Leader and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community commented: “I’m very grateful to work for an organisation full of fantastic people that are so keen on promoting Pride month.
“Creating inclusive communities and striving for equality is so important and it’s great to show our customers how committed we are to that.
“We hope to see lots of you supporting and getting involved where you can.”
We have an equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) group made up of colleagues, customers and partners who raise awareness, push forward activities, embed equality, diversity and inclusion across the organisation, challenge behaviours and provide recommendations.
We are planning more awareness events throughout the year, so keep an eye out for them.
