As part of Apprenticeship Week celebrations, we hear from Dale Traynor, one of our current apprentices.
Tell us a bit about your role and why an apprenticeship appealed to you?
I joined Ongo in 2023 as a volunteer through Ongo Recruitment. After volunteering for a few months, an apprenticeship came up within the Customer Service team, so I grabbed it with both hands, and the rest is history.
I really enjoyed my time as a volunteer and saw the apprenticeship as a great opportunity to gain experience within the customer service industry.
Looking for work was easy but getting the job you want was proving to be difficult because I didn’t have the two- or three-years IT experience that most companies asked for.
What advice would you give someone considering an apprenticeship?
I would tell them to go for it. It gives you valuable real-life experience and great opportunities. I’m enjoying my apprenticeship and I’m so glad I did it.
If you had one sentence to describe your apprenticeship, what would it be?
I am fully committed and can’t wait to finish with more knowledge and a qualification. My goal is to succeed and I’m excited to see what the future holds!
