Employability day success
On Thursday 29 June, we hosted an event at our Cole Street office in Scunthorpe to help local people get into work as part of our Employability Day celebrations.
It was a chance for us and other organisations attending to highlight the opportunities they have available to help people gain training, support and work.
There was information on career progression, help with writing a CV, teaching on interview techniques, free training to book onto and vacancies to apply for.
Approximately 50 people attended, with more than 20 clients signed up to receive further support.
One person who attended was Olksana. She moved here from Ukraine, where she had previously worked as a lawyer. After explaining how she was told she could only become a cleaner, but had much higher career ambitions, the team are now working with Olksana to help her achieve this.
Carol Richardson, Community Engagement Coordinator at Ongo said: “The event was a great success. We had new and existing clients turn up on the day and it was brilliant to see so many new faces.
“I love doing events like this, it makes it all worthwhile when you see the success of people getting into work.”
We also invited local businesses along including British Steel, Northern Power Grid, Synectic’s and Golf in Society.
