Upcoming event that offers work, training and support
We are hosting an event on 29 June, as part of national Employability Day, to help local people get into work and receive support.
Employability Day is an annual occasion for organisations to showcase opportunities and support available, along with celebrating all those who have made steps to improve their life.
The event will take place at our office on Cole Street, between 10am-1pm.
Everyone is invited, from those who are actively looking for work, to those who are not yet ready and need extra support to get there.
Along with our teams, other employers including British Steel, Northern Power Grid, Synectics and Positive Approach Academy for Hair will be attending.
Here’s some of what will be on offer:
• Get your CV reviewed by a professional recruitment consultant
• Gain interview techniques
• Apply for current vacancies
• Learn about what free training is on offer
• Sign up to support, mental health, apprenticeship or volunteering projects
Maryanne Fitzgerald, Engagement and Enterprise Manager here at Ongo said: “The purpose of the day is to open up our doors, invite people in and show them what support is available.
“We know things like training and work placements are key, but for many, building confidence and having their needs listened to is what they need as a first step.
“The team has over 20 years’ experience of supporting people to find, sustain and progress in work, and seeing how much that can change someone’s life is what motivates us.
“We want to raise awareness of the issues confronting jobseekers and help them to break down barriers that can lead to meaningful employment.
“The event will connect customers with our fantastic and specially trained teams, along with local employers, and skills and training providers who can help them on their journey.
“If you’d like to find out more please come along to our event, we’d love to see as many people there as possible, or get in touch with the team today on 01724 844848.”
Between April 2022 to March 2023 we have supported over 1,200 to access employment support, training or work, launched new recruitment projects including Proud to Care and began working with a number of new businesses.
They also increased their social return on investment to over £14 for every £1 spent, way above the UK average of between £5-£9.
