£19,000 of funding secured
We have secured £19,000 of funding to host additional youth activities at both The Arc in Scunthorpe and The Viking Centre in Barton upon Humber.
The Arc and The Viking Centre are our community hubs, bringing much needed activities and events, food and warm spaces, and financial, employment, housing and mental health support.
The £19,000 has been awarded through a number of organisations.
The first is Fuelled, which focuses on providing free activities and nutritious food throughout school holidays, and is facilitated by North Lincolnshire Council.
Since April 2023, they have donated £15,254 in total. This paid for events including dramarama, pizza making, crafts, noise academy, construction workshops and more, with most of these including a free meal.
Tesco Bags of Help have supported The Viking Centre’s parent and toddler group with a £1,000 cash boost.
Both buildings have benefitted from £500 from Wilkin Chapman to provide sweet treats in the summer holidays.
And finally, The Tribune Trust also awarded £3,000 to be spent on equipment, activities, trips and food over the next 12 months.
Kerry Copson, Community Development Manager said, “Different funding has been a massive help and so vital for us to be able to put on events and provide meals for local people.
“We want to say a big thank you to all the organisations who have supported us over the year, it’s really appreciated.
“We do so much within the community to improve neighbourhoods and engage with everyone, so being able to provide these events is amazing.”
Zoe who attended The Arc’s birthday party with her children said: “It has been a fun afternoon and has given us, and loads of other local people, something to do during the school holidays.
“The Arc is brilliant, everyone is welcome and it brings people together. My kids love it and it’s a big part of the community.”
