Celebrating 21 years of Ongo Communities
Since opening their doors in 2003, Ongo Communities has helped over 20,000 people with work related skills and support.
Formerly Crosby Employment, the team joined Ongo 11 years ago and has since become Ongo Communities.
They are committed to making a difference within the community and offer a wide range of support, including skills and development, mental health support and financial support. More services include, getting you online, loneliness, safeguarding, young carers, domestic abuse support, homelessness and their Ongo talk mental health support.
Ongo Recruitment has also employed 300 people each year on a range of temporary contracts and secured jobs for hundreds more.
The teams have completed numerous internal and external funded projects, delivering almost £9million of work in the last five years alone. They have an excellent reputation in local communities for successfully completing projects and delivering services that really make a difference to customers.
Throughout the years, they’ve held multiple events, for lots of different funded projects that have been a huge success, these include building better opportunities, endeavour, looking up, and Ongo talk.
Kay Minto, who was part of the Endeavour project said: “I can’t thank the team enough for helping me with my journey, they’ve played such a big part in helping with my confidence and getting me to where I am now. I would never have got up to speak in front of people before and I’m sad to see the project ending.”
The Arc and The Viking Centre have also been a huge part to the success of communities. They’ve created safe spaces for the local community, set up warm spaces, food banks, events, helped with financial support and much more.
Community grants is another amazing project, that was first set up 10 years ago and to date has awarded over £130,000 to local groups.
Jan Williams, Head of Opportunities said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 21 years of supporting the community, creating social value, boosting the local economy and making a real difference to people’s lives.
“Over the years we’ve grown significantly, supporting people with mental health support, one to one counselling, coaching and all other support.
“I’m honoured and feel very lucky to work with so many amazing people, who are passionate about helping others.”
