Ongo carnival draws biggest ever crowd
Over 1,500 people attended our 2016 Ongo carnival.
They enjoyed entertainment from Kimberley Performing Arts, Dramarama, Scunthorpe & District Pipe Band and Twirl Stars majorettes plus other fun activities, including retro fairground stalls, zorb football and a drumming workshop.
The carnival took place on Wednesday 3 August 2016 at Manor Park, Burringham Road, Scunthorpe, and there was something for people of all ages including bouncy castles, a mini animal farm, face painting, flower arranging and carousel rides.
Staff also held their own stalls offering information and support along with games and fun activities for children.
North Lincolnshire Council, Westcliff Drop in Centre and Humberside Fire and Rescue were among the many partner organisations at the event.
An annual balloon launch was a huge success in the afternoon with hundreds of children joining in to celebrate the day.
Wendy Wolfe, Customer Engagement Manager at Ongo, said: “The carnival was a success again and we had the best turnout we’ve ever had with over 1,500 people visiting what has become a well known and popular event across North Lincolnshire. This year we even had a bus full of people visiting from Barton which was brilliant to see.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in helping to make the day run as well as it did, and of course a big thank you to everyone that came along to enjoy the day.
“This free annual event is just one of the ways Ongo gives back and supports the local community.”
